The original coffee brewer is the Turkish Ibrik - a brass or copper container that is slender at the top and wider at the bottom, with a long handle and a grooved lip for pouring.
The Ibrik, the father of all coffee makers, is still used in the Middle East.
Advantage: Thick body, mild flavor, entertaining brewing process. Grind: Extra Fine. Brewing: This small long-handled pot is usually made of copper or brass, dates back to the origins of coffee in Middle East and is used to make Turkish coffee.
Place coffee along with sugar and water in the pot and bring to a boil. Remove the ibrik from the heat and stir. Repeat this twice before serving the thick syrupy brew. Take off of heat. Let grounds settle and serve.
Africa. We don’t know much about it’s history prior to 1000 AD, but not because it had none, but simply because WE don’t know. The only thing that managed to slip into available records is the fact that members of certain Galla tribes in Ethiopia discovered a perfect remedy for lethargy: they took certain berries, ground them up, mixed them up with animal fat, took it and went and did what they were supposed to be doing.
