Manual Drip Coffee Brewers

If you like to remain in control of exactly how your coffee will taste, then manual drip brewers are for you. These manual drip coffee makers are still preferred by many over automatic drip coffee makers, because of the greater control you maintain over the extraction of the coffee grounds which leads to a better tasting cup of coffee.

Drip coffee. Filter drip, manual drip, auto drip, anything that uses gravity and a filter to make coffee. A lot of coffee snobs eschew filter drip coffee, and I’m probably just as guilty as the rest of fostering the idea that filter drip equals low quality. I’ve also fostered the idea that filter drip is no where near as exciting or “sexy” as espresso is. I hope I can change that perception, if only just a bit. Read the rest of this entry »

Bodum Santos Electric Vacuum Coffee Maker

Bought the Santos last July. Enjoyed great coffee for several months. But the timer burnt up and we have not been able to get any response to phone calls or e-mails from Bodum USA to order a replacement. I’m ready to contact relatives in Denmark to see if they have any luck in getting a response from Bodum.

Many true coffee perfectionists prefer the vacuum brewing method. Vacuum brewing is also one of the oldest coffee brewing methods, but this superior method had largely given way to convenience ? until now!

The Bodum Santos Electric Vacuum Coffee Maker blends the convenience of an automatic drip coffee maker with the full body of a stovetop vacuum brewer. Vacuum brewing heats water in a bottom chamber, creating pressure that drives the water at the perfect temperature into the top chamber where it mixes with the ground coffee. Brewing Coffee With A Drip Coffee Maker

Drip coffee makers are among the most popular types in the world. They’re the type that most of us are probably the most familiar with, and it’s likely that you or a family member have one at home. However, not everyone knows how to properly brew coffee in a drip coffee maker. Here’s a step by step guide to help you learn how.

Most drip filter coffee makers operate in the same simple manner: a paper filter sets in a basket (usually plastic) which holds the finely ground, almost powdery coffee beans. Cold water is poured into a chamber where it is heated and poured over the grounds. The coffee is quickly extracted into a waiting carafe. Simple, reliable, and very efficient compared to many other coffee making processes.

Remove the coffee maker’s carafe, and swing the basket out of the machine. Some drip coffee makers have other mechanisms, including a removable basket, so pay attention to your particular model. Read the rest of this entry »
