Rotary Switch
Simply turn and press to navigate your way through the entire range of operating and programming steps while keeping an eye on the graphics appearing on the display. So no matter whether you’re selecting coffee strength, adjusting the amount of water or giving your coffee specialities their own names, the rotary switch literally reduces everything to a twist of your wrist.
Operator guidance
The IMPRESSA S9 Avantgarde speaks your language, either in clear text messages or readily understandable graphics. It communicates with you and takes you to your favourite coffee specialities by the shortest and most direct route. The interactive clear text/graphic display guides you swiftly and smoothly through every stage of the program. Give your IMPRESSA S9 Avantgarde a personal flavour all of its own. Coffee a la Carte
It’s all a question of taste. With the coffee a la carte key, you can adjust your favourite cup of coffee to your own individual preferences. Use the Rotary Switch to choose the coffee strength and amount of ground coffee you require before starting the machine.
Height-adjustable coffee spout
Whether you are making an ultra-short ristretto in a tiny cup or one of today’s popular favourites in a tall glass, the coffee dispenser adjusts precisely to any cup size from 66 to 146 mm, guaranteeing the perfectly soft, silky crema you will get with every cup of coffee you make with the IMPRESSA S9 Avantgarde. At the same time, it helps prevent splashing on the front panel of the machine.
Cup illumination
Put in the right light: the cup lighting sets the stage for a perfect coffee event and makes your mouth water just by looking at the coffee. Guaranteed pleasurable anticipation.
Active bean management
The IMPRESSA S9 Avantgarde puts an end to the sound of empty coffee grinders and half-empty coffee cups once and for all because it tells you in good time when you need to refill the bean container. And it’s all made possible by an innovation from JURA: the amount of beans in the container is monitored constantly and as soon as they drop below a minimum level an alert appears on the display.
CLARIS plus Filter
CLARIS plus filter cartridges can be used in the JURA IMPRESSA S9 Avantgarde. The lime scale problem is solved cleanly, once and for all. The 2nd generation electronic filter monitoring system automatically informs you when filter capacity has been exhausted or and this is a completely new feature the two months active life of a cartridge have elapsed.

The Impressa S9 Avantgarde grinds from 5 to a maximum of 16 grams of coffee from mild to extra strong.
Choose from two temperature settings. Some like it hot, some don’t.
Height-adjustable coffee spout lets you brew into small espresso cups or in your special 12 oz. mug without spilling.
The Impressa S9 Avantgarde has an external FrothExpress system. Elimate manual steaming with this feature.
2.8 litre removable water container.
Integrated professional solid steel conical burr grinder for consistent and aroma-saving grinding. Six settings allow you to adjust the fineness for all kinds of beans - from light to dark roasts.
280 gr. bean container. Grind up to 30 portions of coffee before refilling.
Hot Water Dispenser.
Unique CLARIS Water Care System. Removes chlorine, lead, aluminum and copper for a better tasting coffee. A special organic additive removes almost all carbon and eliminates decalcifying altogether.
Electronic CLARIS cartridge change indicator makes sure that you always have the best water possible.
Separate funnel for pre-ground coffee. Use for decaf or flavored coffees.

Convenience, Monitoring, Appearance and Safety Features
Two-line LED display dialog system. Gives you short, plain language instructions: “Coffee Ready”, “Fill Water”, “Clean Unit” etc.
Choose from seven languages in the dialog system. English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch.
Select from “Continuous-on” or “Auto-off” from 1/2 hour to 9 hours in one hour increments. Makes sure the machine stays on as long as you want.
Automatic hot water rinse cycle when the Z5 is turned on and off. Cleans and pre-heats all vital brewing parts.
Automatic cleaning cycle indicator prevents coffee oil build-up in the brew chamber. A short 15 minutes automated tablet cleaning program with clear instructions in the LED display insures clean inner parts and coffee that will never tastes oily or rancid. No inner parts need to be removed. The display will remind you automatically after approx. 200 cups of coffee.
Automatic indicator when used coffee container is full. Used coffee container holds up to 16 coffee portions.
Electronic water level sensor will never let the machine operate without water!
